Imagination Play: Abracadabra

Recently my 3 year old nephew came to visit.  He had a magic wand that he wanted me to play with with him. I'm pretty sure if we had the time, he would have spent hours with me playing with it.  His favorite was to turn me into a kitty and then back into myself while chasing me around the house.  How fun it is to see the imagination of young children.

Because of the joy I saw it brought him, I decided to make magic wands the craft project I had when doing family outreach for Help Me Grow.  It has been fun to see young children decorate and play with their wands.

Here’s how I made them:

Supplies:
  •        Bright colored cardstock paper
  •        Popsicle sticks
  •       Glue
  •       Scissors
Instructions:
1. Cut paper into fun shapes
2. Glue popsicle stick to sheet
3. Make sure glue dries completely before handling

Once it’s made, give it to your child to decorate.  We always use crayons and stickers, but you can use whatever you have at home.  And then have fun while your children’s imagination goes wild.  ABRACADABRA!!
