I’m not used to talking about myself, so it took some
thinking about what I could share about myself. I’ve come up with ten things to
help you get to know me:
- I am a woman of faith. Faith that things will work out. Faith in a higher being. Faith that we are not alone, even if it feels like it at times. I’m grateful for my faith that make the hard times more bearable.
- I learned to serve at a young age. My dad has been the volunteer fire chief in my hometown my entire life. I practically grew up playing on fire trucks. I surprised my dad with a picture of me on a fire truck for my bridal pictures. (If you look close, you can see my bouquet made out of ribbons and buttons, another love of mine).
- I was planning a trip to Europe when my sweet hubby asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes, but I never made it to Europe. We haven’t made it out of a 4-hour radius to travel since we’ve been married. Hopefully some day we will travel the world!
- I have flown in a B-17 Bomber. If that wasn’t cool enough, I was a passenger alongside an elderly WWII veteran who said that would be his last flight in that amazing plane. I’m grateful for those who have fought to protect this great country.
- My dream car is a chrome convertible (as seen on The Host), although I might settle for a black one. The closest thing I have come to driving a convertible was one of those yellow carts I drove around BYU campus while working for Concessions. We own a 1984 Camaro that my husband drove in his younger days. It needs a major fixer-upper, but maybe someday I’ll be able to drive that car.
- I love a clean house. Nothing gets me in a better mood quicker than having a clean, uncluttered house. I crave it. I dream of it. It’s not always a reality to have my perfectly clean house, but I sure do love it when it happens!
- I’m a huge fan of Dave Ramsey and the hope he gives families to achieve their financial goals. I don’t know if my husband is as big of a fan, but he sure loves the interest we have saved by following Dave’s plan. Someday when our house is paid off, I’m sure he’ll really love Dave Ramsey.
- We plant a garden every year. I’m convinced I have a black thumb because our garden was a total fail last year. But here’s to hoping I’ll have a productive garden this year! If anyone has any tips, I’m definitely listening!
- I’ve worked for United Way of Utah County for over a decade. I love being part of a bigger cause. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to go on a couple disaster relief missions, one of which was for Hurricane Katrina and the other was for flooding in Indiana. I met some amazing people and was humbled by the resiliency and the determination of these people to go forward with positivity.
- And the cherry on top is the opportunity I have to work with Help Me Grow Utah. I am passionate about connecting families with the information and resources they need to help their families. Sometimes I cry after talking to families because of how hard life is. On the flip side, I literally jump for joy when I get to celebrate with families because of the good things happening. I love what I do and can’t think of a better way to serve.
